Member of Parliament(MP) for Kade Constituency, Ofosu Asamoah, has challenged old students of Asuom Senior High, popularly called ASECOSA, to give their maximum best to help improve their Alma Mater.
The former Deputy Eastern Regional Minister made this call when he presented 100 Library chairs valued at GHs10, 000 to the school at the 2nd Home-coming of ASECOSA in Asuom on Saturday, 26th October, 2013.
As a Guest of Honour and Chairman of the Grand Durbar and Fund Raising ceremony, Ofosu Asamoah, called on all stakeholders in Asuom Senior High to come on board to build their cherished school.
The MP for Kade wondered why a school which has produced prominent people in the society such as pilots, MPs, Accountants, Administrators, to mention but a few, is not receiving maximum support from these people.
“Years ago, the population of this country was not like this so government alone cannot provide amenities for schools. The time has come for old students, PTA and the general public to contribute in their little ways to build schools in their communities. The stakeholder participation principles is not government alone; it includes Parents, Teachers, Opinion Leaders, Churches, Philanthropies, Old Students, and the general public. It is against this backdrop that I congratulate the Executives and members of ASECOSA for this great initiatives to assist in purchasing a Generator Set for the school“, the Kade MP explained.
Receiving the items on behalf of the School and people of Asuom, Osabarima Ofosuhene II, Chief of Asuom expressed his heart-felt gratitude to the MP and reminded him of the deplorable state of the road from Kade to Asuom and its environs.
The President of ASECOSA, Rev. Alex Boakye-Yiadom, in his speech, expressed amazement as to why natives of Asuom, who are supposed to be the bedrock of the Association are rather not active. He therefore called on all, who has passed through the four walls of Great ASEC to remember their past and contribute to build the school.
He expressed appreciation to Mrs. Helina Adu Gyamfi of PZ Cussons and Mr. Frederick Ankomah of Ferkems Company for their great contributions and donations to ensure a successful 2nd home-coming. The ASECOSA President bemoaned the rampant removal of Headmasters from the School and said, it retards development of the school.
Last year, the old students raised funds to purchase Dining Tables and Chairs for the school’s dining hall. This year, the fund is being used to purchase a Generator set for the school. A special thanksgiving service was held on Sunday to climax the home-coming activities. Kade MP challenges Asuom graduates to give back to alma mater
