The chiefs and people of the Ketu South Municipality have honored, Divine Kporha for being adjudged the 2023 National Best Nurse and Midwife.
He was awarded for his volunteerism and philanthropic works which contributed to improving health services for neonates at the Ketu South Hospital among others.
Divine Kporha, a product of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, (UHAS) began his nursing profession about four years ago.
While serving, he committed himself to philanthropism, aiming to alleviate the plight of the underprivileged and enhance healthcare delivery in his jurisdiction.
The last four years saw him securing funds for several humanitarian projects. Prime among them was the construction of a neonatal intensive care unit at the Ketu South Municipal Hospital.
His initiatives also included providing potable water for the Duta community in Ketu South and undertaking a project to enhance sanitation at the cured lepers village in Ho, among others.
Stationed at the Ketu South Municipal Hospital, Mr. Kpoha’s service as a clinical facilitator, researcher, and Project Officer has contributed significantly to the nursing community in his jurisdiction.
His philanthropic works coupled with his commitment to the nursing profession saw him adjudged the 2023 District Best Nurse/Midwife, 2023 Regional Best Nurse/Midwife, and eventual 2023 National Best Nurse/Midwife.
He was given a Nissan Ameri Saloon car, an undisclosed amount of money, and a citation, among others.
Mr. Kporha said “I was granted 42,000 Australian Dollars to establish a well-equipped neonatal intensive care unit that will include modern technologies that support neonates' health. As a young nurse, I have dedicated myself to community service and volunteerism, and the association that I belong to identified that and decided to honor me with a brand-new car and some other awards.”
He expressed appreciation to the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) for identifying his contribution to humanity and honoring him.
“And I want to say a very big thank you to the GRNMA and all the nurses and midwives across Ghana. This can only be the doing of the Lord and I can only do more for my people and my community”, he said.

During a tour of the Volta region, he was celebrated for his commitment to serving humanity and eulogized for achieving such a great feat within the first four years of his nursing career.
The Chief Executive Officer of Kings Hand Hospital, Dr. Kwasi Asare-Bediako, who groomed Mr. Kporha described him as one who delivers any task given to him diligently and to perfection, and always dedicated to service.
The Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Togbui Adzongaga Amenya Fiti V, said he identified the potential of Mr. Kporha and hence advised him to remain committed to his nursing profession.
He acknowledged Mr. Asare-Bediako's contribution to Mr. Kporha's nursing journey and advised his subjects to build networks that would merit them and impact their lives positively.
“After identifying his potential, I told him to concentrate on his career and quit politics. You have to build a career first, then politics will reward you. But if you don't have a career, politics will sink you”, he said.
Mr. Kporha was decorated with a Kente cloth by the Aflao Traditional Council for his exemplary lifestyle serving as a nurse in the area.
