To help bring smiles to the faces of the less fortunate during the Christmas and New Year festivities, an NGO, Kharis Haven is H.E.R Haven, a foundation dedicated to Health, Education, and Restoration, has donated essential care items to mothers and children admitted to the Achimota Hospital and Amomole Community Clinic Centre in the Greater Accra Region.
The event saw over 85 mothers of newborn babies and toddlers receive bags containing essential care items such as nappies, baby clothing, washing detergent, and toiletries. It was heartwarming to see the mothers accept the packages with smiles on their faces.

One of the driving forces behind the donation, Mrs Jessie-Emma Boaitey Ampratwum, noted that the NGO's primary purpose is to improve the lives of women and children through such support. She reaffirmed that the aim of Kharis Haven is H.E.R Haven is to support and empower women in Ghana emotionally, physically, and spiritually to overcome the challenges they face while caring for their children.
She highlighted that the organisation has, over the past two years, been offering life-changing support to some of the most vulnerable members of society. She also praised her co-founder, Ransford Ampratwum, for his compassion and support, which have been instrumental in bringing the NGO to its current level of assisting marginalised individuals.
Mrs Jessie-Emma Boaitey Ampratwum explained that the mission of Kharis Haven is H.E.R Haven is both ambitious and profoundly humane. The organisation is committed to equipping mothers with the tools and confidence they need to care for their families. Through skill-building workshops, safe lodging, and educational initiatives, the NGO aims to enable women to overcome the obstacles they face in life.
The Female, Maternity, and Paediatric wards at Achimota Hospital were among the first to receive the foundation’s care packages. Lawrencia Aryee, a senior paediatric nurse, expressed gratitude to the NGO for its timely intervention, highlighting how these donations alleviate the burdens on mothers who often struggle to meet their children's basic needs.

Her sentiments were echoed by the hospital administrator, Fredrick Ayivoore, who praised the foundation’s efforts and called for sustained support from the wider community to address the ongoing challenges faced by vulnerable women and children.
At the Amomole Community Clinic, the foundation was met with heartfelt appreciation. Administrator Vera Abedu-Peprah and maternity nurse Elizabeth Deh described the donations as transformative, noting how such initiatives uplift struggling families and inspire hope. As one mother tearfully shared, “This gift feels like a lifeline—it reminds me I’m not alone on this journey.”
A Broader Vision
While their immediate aid is impactful, the work of Kharis Haven is H.E.R Haven goes much deeper. Mrs Jessie-Emma Boaitey Ampratwum emphasised that the foundation’s initiatives aim to nurture resilience and independence in the women they serve. Through workshops and educational programmes, they equip mothers with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their health and well-being, creating a ripple effect that strengthens entire communities.
The co-founders of Kharis Haven is H.E.R Haven reiterated their commitment to bringing the organisation’s vision to life.
“Our vision is to restore hope to mothers so they can, in turn, restore hope to their families. This isn’t just about providing care—it’s about ensuring that women thrive as strong, capable pillars in their homes and society.”

Mrs Jessie-Emma Boaitey Ampratwum, in an interview with our news team, noted that the NGO, Kharis Haven is H.E.R Haven, is a divinely inspired initiative to reduce the burden of suffering. She emphasised the need for all well-meaning Ghanaians to exhibit compassion, dedication, and practical support to make the lives of the vulnerable more bearable. She urged individuals to contribute to the foundation, noting that such support would strengthen the NGO’s ability to assist health institutions like the Achimota Hospital and Amomole Community Clinic with resources to aid patients.
She appealed to well-meaning individuals, corporations, and organisations to support Kharis Haven is H.E.R Haven through donations.

Mrs Boaitey Ampratwum stressed that a successful child is raised by a mother who is happy and has peace of mind to be fully present with them. She noted, “As citizens, we must work together to reduce the burdens on mothers so they can thrive and, in turn, raise wholesome children. It is an opportunity to be part of a movement that restores health, education, and hope to the most marginalised, creating a brighter tomorrow for all.”
Together, we can ensure that no mother or child is left behind in their journey towards a better life.
