If anybody had doubts whether music legend, Kojo Antwi still has his fans under lock and key, December 24, 2009 must have cleared their minds.
Even the Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana confirmed this, for how many musical shows will have the vice president, business and political guru Eddie Annan, former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Majority Leader, Alban Sumana Bagbin and the list goes on, attending.
Hear Vice-President John Mahama’s testimony at the packed National Theatre in early hours of Friday, December 25; “listening to Kojo Antwi’s music is great but seeing him perform is awesome.”
Yes, the feeling in the auditorium could not have been greater than seeing the nation’s vice president tap his feet and sing along as deafening chorus reverberated across the walls of the National Theatre.
It was a sight to behold when Mrs Rawlings intermittently rose to her feet to 'boogie small,' with Mr Eddie Annan in tow nodding repeatedly while MC of the night, Kwesi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) was an enchanted 'host'.
The only person who missed the great bash from the Rawlings' home was Papa Jerry himself, for in Nana Konadu's company were Kimathi and his two sisters.
That was not all, Joy FM’s Ato Kwamena Dadzie and vociferous political analyst, Ursula Owusu added to the excitement with their impeccable dance moves.
The night started on a slow note with up and coming Ghanaian musicians warming up the place.
Then came the turn of the known and crowd pullers - the ‘official madman’ in the music industry, Okomfo Kwaadee who put up a great performance and an opening into what awaited the audience. Appearing nonchalant, he got many onto their feet while others screamed his names over the rooftops.
Nigeria’s Flavour could not have disappointed, not when he piped in with ‘Ashawo’, arguably one of the most popular songs in West Africa for the year.
While all the performers of the night generally lived up to their billing, Wutah nearly stole the show from the Music Man himself. Wutah got music lovers dancing more than anyone else did and had they performed longer, they most probably would have beaten the nightingale in Kojo Antwi. Their every song was well received and got people off their seats.
