The hilarious actor, Kojo Dadson who featured in the international award-winning movie ‘Run Baby Run’ and other TV series like ‘Home Sweet Home’, ‘Hotel St. James’ including other old movies like ‘Love Brews In African Pot,’ has come out with a musical album titled ‘Who Is Ghana?’ In an exclusive interview with BEATWAVES, Kojo said the six-track album which will be out today, Friday March 6 has interesting highlife songs. He wrote all the songs on the album himself some 14 years ago but had to put them on the shelf because he didn’t have the motivation to record it. “The recording of the album came into my mind when Ghana went to the World Cup. Ghanaians certainly became proud of their country during the matches and they exhibited the same level of patriotism during last year’s elections. It was during those times that it dawned on me to release the album. The title track is ‘Who is Ghana?’ Is it about you or me? I subsequently stated in that song that we are the Ghana.” The album, he noted, would be out with three different videos. The pot-bellied actor whose father owned the professional ‘Ohuru’ band in the 70s disclosed that he learnt music from his dad. During Kojo’s school days at the St Augustine’s Collage he had his own band, and after school too, he formed another band called ‘Talented Incorporated’ with Kofi Bucknor, another top Ghanaian actor. “We did music and dramas, poetry and danced a lot, and I composed a lot of songs. In 1978, we represented Ghana at the world festival of music but I didn’t see myself getting into the music industry then because there was no direction to the music we were doing,” he said, adding that, that contributed to his going into acting which gave him enormous exposure to project his music. “Now, I have all the exposure to promote the musical aspect of me. That is what showbiz is all about.” Kojo Dadson owns an acting and music school called BG Talent Institute located on the Ring Road near the Bus Stop Restaurant in Accra. Source: Daily Guide
