The Komenda College of Education in the Central Region has begun partnership talks with teacher education institutions in the UK and the US in a bid to improve their image globally.

Principal of the College, Rev. Dr. Kwesi Wilson Nkum, says the international linkages with the educational powerhouses outside the country will set the college streets ahead of its peers in the teacher education arena in Ghana and in the global space.

Speaking at the Graduation of 464 newly trained diploma teachers of the College, the principal indicated the college has some international linkages already with teacher education institutions in the Netherlands but will forge for more international partnerships to boost the image of the college among its peers.

“Already discussions have begun with teacher training institutions in the United States and the United Kingdom. In the years ahead, management of the college is going to embark on serious international partnerships,” he averred.

Rev. Dr. Kwesi Wilson Nkum says management of the college has already begun reviving existing partnerships with institutions such as the Teacher Education with Gouda in the Netherlands.

 “We will revive and pursue more beneficial linkages, he stated.

The Cape Coast Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church, Rev. Ebenezer Abakah-Wilson advised the graduating class of 2018 to be great ambassadors of the college. He urged them to see their profession as a calling and give off their best.  “Make yourself proud and make the College and Ghana proud. Give a very good account of yourself and impart to impact,” he prayed.

The students who graduated with a Diploma in Basic Education program were under the mentorship of the University of Cape Coast.

Out of the number who graduated, 7 had first class, 117 had second class upper, 223 had second class lower, 88 had third class while 25 secured a pass.
