The Kumasi Central Prisons, as part of its reformation process, presented five male inmates to participate in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which commenced on Wednesday, June 11.
The inmates, aged between 20 and 25 years, are writing their exams at the Bantama exam Centre.
Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, in his tour to BECE centres, encouraged the inmates and assured them of support in paying their WASSCE registration fees.
"I am happy to see these inmates writing the BECE, and it's a symbol of hope to their lives.”

The MCE also visited the Opoku Ware School Centre in Nhyiaso Constituency, the Adventist SHS and Asanteman SHS centres in the Bantama Constituency, and Serwaa Nyarko SHS Centre in the Manhyia North constituency.
During the tour, he urged the students to desist from examination malpractice.
"Your destiny commences today and you are to take the exams seriously to have your future," Mr Boadi entreated the candidates.

A total number of 120,285 pupils are participating in the ongoing BECE at 432 centre in the Ashanti region out of the national figure of over 600,000 candidates.
