A member of Kwabena Agyepong's NPP flagbearership campaign team has alleged that opinion polls conducted so far on the party’s presidential race have been influenced by money from wealthy contenders.
Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Wednesday, Kofi Dokyi Ampaw argued that the surveys do not reflect the true mood of delegates, insisting that financial power has shaped their outcomes.
According to him, Ing. Kwabena Agyepong is not among the wealthiest candidates in the race but has diligently engaged delegates across the country with his ideas and vision.
"With regards to the polls and all of that. Musa Dankwa's polls and all of those things, we are here to see. All the polls so far have been based on this so-called money spenders. It is all based on the big spenders," he claimed.
"We are doing what we have to do, we are spending money, but we are not spending money compared to others. Others are maybe bigger spenders than us but we are doing what we have to do," he added.
The comments come ahead of the NPP’s nationwide presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday, January 31, as competition intensifies among aspirants seeking to lead the party into the next general election.
Several polls conducted on the race have so far placed former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the frontrunner, followed by former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, particularly in surveys conducted by Global InfoAnalytics.
Other polls, such as those by Sanity Africa, also place Kennedy Agyapong in a strong position.
The polls have consistently indicated limited support for the other three candidates in the race.
