A member of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has assured Ghanaians of his party flagbearer’s commitment to see to the implementation of the 24-hour economy.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday, he explained that John Dramani Mahama is convinced the 24-hour economy is the surest way to reduce Ghana’s unemployment levels while increasing the country’s production capacity.
He noted that the introduction of the 24-hour economy will also cater to the issue of excess power supply that has been plaguing the country since 2017.

According to Edudzi Tamakloe, while the NDC is convinced of the viability of their policy, they are also seeking contributions and suggestions from civil society organisations, trade unions, and even the party in power to ensure that the policy framework they come up with will be embraced by all.
“We in the NDC we don’t behave like Kweku Ananse - ‘I know it all’. We believe in the broader question of consultation. We’ll consult more, we’ll bring expertise on board, we’ll look at best practices, we’ll look at what has happened, what failed, and we’ll present Ghana a blueprint on this 24-hour economy.
“But thankfully we have started a conversation that has gotten our friends on the NPP onboard, let’s continue for the good of this country. And I can assure you that John Dramani Mahama is determined. In fact if this will be the only legacy that he will leave, he’s determined to do that,” he said.
