President John Dramani Mahama has assured the leadership of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship of his government’s full support as Ghana prepares to host the 2026 World Assemblies of God Congress.
He gave the assurance when the Global Chairman of the Fellowship, Rev. Dominic Yeo, paid a courtesy call on him in Accra. Rev. Yeo was accompanied by the General Superintendents of Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam; Benin, Rev. Ben Sodji; Zambia, Rev. Lipenga Banda; and the Chairman of the Local Planning Committee, Rev. Andrews Awintia. The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, was also present.

President Mahama, a member of The Assemblies of God, Ghana, acknowledged the “huge spiritual impact, colossal economic opportunities and great international recognition” the global event will bring to the country. These benefits, he said, underscore the need for close collaboration and government assistance.
He also stressed the importance of moral and biblical principles in leadership, reiterating that such values must guide national decision-making.

Rev. Yeo commended President Mahama for his “visionary, decisive and bold leadership,” which he said has contributed to the relative stability of the economy. He also praised the President for launching a Code of Conduct for government officials, and appealed for a strong church–state partnership to help the Assemblies of God, Ghana, deliver a world-class Congress.

The historic event, launched in Accra on Friday, November 14, 2025, will be held from October 12 to 14, 2026. It will focus on advancing the MM33 Agenda, which aims to establish one million Assemblies of God churches worldwide by 2033, marking 2,000 years since the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the Day of Pentecost.

Accra 2026 will be the first World Assemblies of God Congress to be held in Africa. More than 100,000 delegates and countless international visitors are expected to travel to Ghana for the event.
