Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will on Wednesday, visit the family of those who lost their lives during the post-election violence that erupted in the Techiman South constituency last week.
At least 3 people lost their lives in the chaos that broke out in the Techiman South constituency when NDC officials protested an alleged manipulation of figures in favour of the New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate.
While there, Mr Mahama will also visit the Regional and Constituency office of the Electoral Commission in the Constituency.
Prior to the scheduled visit by the flagbearer, the leadership of the NDC visited the Electoral Commission (EC) office in the Techiman South Constituency in the Bono East Region to demand copies of the pink sheets and collation sheet used to declare the New Patriotic Party’s candidate, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah as the Member of Parliament-elect.
However, the Returning Officer for the constituency informed them that he did not have a copy of the sheet and subsequently directed them to the regional office of the EC where copies of the pink sheets had been sent.
According the team, led by the lawyers Kojogah Adawudu and Gbevlo Lartey, they were unable to get copies of the pink sheets even at the regional office.
In a statement signed by the NDC's Regional Secretary, Mohammed Shamsudeen Ali said, “The Regional EC office and the Techiman South Constituency EC office will feel his [Mr Mahama's] presence.”
As part of his visit on Wednesday, Mr Mahama will also interact with the leadership of the party, sympathisers and party faithfuls within the region.
