The District Pastor for the Presbyterian Church at Goaso in Ahafo Region has called on the media to take a stand against politicians who encourage violence during elections.

Rev Paul Oduro Sarfo believes violence has no place in our democratic process and that the media has a responsibility to find a way to report on what those politicians say in a way that doesn't incite violence or promote division.

The clergyman argued that without the media, politicians would be able to say what they want without the knowledge of the public.

“I plead with reporters that if they invite any politician to the studio or speak to them through a phone call and they say anything that will not lead to a peaceful election, please know how to report it,” he said.

He made the call when the Presbyterian Church conducted prayers for the country.

Speaking to Adom News, Rev. Oduro Sarfo said that the state of the country is determined by the outcome of the elections.

“If there is peace in the country, everything goes on well,” he stated.

He appealed to the media not to give a platform to politicians who make unreasonable claims, as this could incite violence and hinder the country's development.
