Michael Essien has denied stories that he is unfit and about to be sent packing by Greek side Panathinaikos.
Media reports in Greece have suggested Essien will leave the Greek giants because of concerns over his fitness but he has taken to Instagram to issue a rebuttal against the rumours.
The midfielder said: “When they cannot break you, then they start telling lies about you. I'm very well and fit… CheapNews. Jah bless still”, he posted on the photo-sharing social media platform.
Once considered one of the best midfielders in the world, he has tailed off in recent season and has managed just 13 appearances this season with Panathinaikos.
The former Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan man did not however explain the reason for his recent absence from the Panathinaikos set up.
