More public universities are extending their academic calendars because of the recent strike by university teachers.
It follows the announcement of a two-week extension by the University of Ghana.
The University of Cape Coast and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have also announced similar extensions.
The Public Relations Officer for the KNUST, Solomon Panford, told Joy News the university is extending its calendar by two weeks.
He said although the teachers were out of the lecture halls for three weeks, the two weeks extension was enough to cover the lost period because while the strike was ongoing, academic activities such supervision of project works and tutorials were taking place.
The Public Relations Officer at the University of Cape Coast David Dzontoh said the university’s calendar has been extended by a week.
He explained that one week period initially intended for revision has now been declared for lectures to compensate for the lost time.
