An aide to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2012 flagbearer has hinted Nana Akufo-Addo will seek another opportunity to lead the party in the 2016 elections.
Moustapha Hamid told Joy News that "Nana Addo will heed the call of thousands of supporters across the country" and will contest the next elections.
The NPP leader is presently cooling off in the UK after a fierce 2012 political campaign and a protracted legal battle, which challenged the results of the 2012 Presidential election.
Prior to his departure from Ghana, Nana Addo promised his followers he will let them know the plans for his future on his return.
Addressing supporters in the UK, Nana Akufo-Addo said he is still looking up to God for spiritual guidance and directions regarding his political future.
But in Ghana, his aide Moustapha Hamid said he will be surprised if Nana Addo does not contest the 2016 elections.
He told Joy News that given Nana Addo's values, judgment, energy and the will to serve the people, he will be surprised "if he goes against the collective interest of the supporters."
He cited how a number of supporters flocked his house to pledge their support and encouraged Nana Addo not to abandon them in 2016.
"I am almost certain Nana Addo will contest the 2016 elections," he emphasized.
He conceded, however, that the 2012 NPP flagbearer has not officially told him anything about his preparedness to contest the next elections.
