The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, has called on state security agencies to urgently investigate and arrest a foreign national allegedly involved in luring and secretly filming young Ghanaian women.
In a Facebook post on Friday, February 13, the MP urged swift action from the Cyber Security Authority, the Ghana Police Service and the National Intelligence Bureau.
According to him, the allegations, if proven, constitute serious criminal conduct and must not be trivialised.
“Cyber Security Authority Ghana, Ghana Police Service and the National Bureau of Investigation must act swiftly to investigate and arrest the foreign national who allegedly lured young Ghanaian women and secretly filmed them,” he stated.
Mr Opoku stressed that the issue goes beyond social media sensationalism and must be treated strictly as a criminal matter.
“If the allegations are true, this is not entertainment. It is exploitation. It is abuse. It is cybercrime,” he wrote, urging authorities to handle the case with the seriousness it deserves.
The Mpraeso MP also appealed to Ghanaian bloggers and content creators to exercise restraint by refraining from sharing the alleged videos and images.
“Stop circulating the videos and images of the young women involved. They are victims and deserve dignity and protection, not further humiliation,” he cautioned.
He concluded by underscoring what he described as the dual responsibility of law enforcement and the media.
“The law must pursue the suspect. The media must protect the victims. This is cyber harassment and sexual exploitation. It must be treated with the seriousness it deserves,” Mr Opoku added.
