The Christmas season brought extra joy to 600 mothers across Ghana who gave birth during the holidays. MTN Ghana staff and managers paid surprise visits to hospitals to deliver baby hampers.
Mothers at 30 selected hospitals in the country's 16 regions received hampers containing essential baby items such as diapers, detergents, toys, and other personal care products.
In the Central Region, 60 mothers were beneficiaries of the initiative. Regina Arkaifie, the Human Resources Manager for MTN’s South Business District, led the team to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH), which recorded 20 deliveries on December 25th and 26th.

Speaking during the presentation, Madam Arkaifie shared, “We use these baby hampers to welcome the babies born on 25th and 26th December as part of our social responsibility and our commitment to showing care and love to the people around us. We consider this one of the flagship projects of the MTN Ghana Foundation.”
The gesture was warmly received by the mothers. Some expressed their delight and gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing how the hampers would provide much-needed support for their newborns.
Deputy Nurse Officer Veronica Koomson expressed her appreciation for the gesture, on behalf of the hospital’s management.
“We are grateful to MTN for this thoughtful initiative. Such acts of kindness go a long way in supporting mothers and their newborns, especially during the festive season,” she remarked.
Launched in 2011, MTN Ghana’s Christmas hampers initiative offers its staff a unique opportunity to volunteer their time and positively impact families with newborns.
Over the years, the project has been expanded across all 16 regions of Ghana. To date, more than 3,500 hampers have been distributed.
“This project is one of the ways we bring smiles to families and demonstrate our commitment to making lives brighter during the festive season,” Madam Arkaifie noted.
