The MTN Ghana Foundation has provided a lifeline to four children of a blind lady who contemplated taking her own life when life became unbearable for her.
Regina Mensah was expecting her fourth child when she fell and hit her head on her bed and has since not been unable to see.
“I woke up in the night to use the washroom but I didn’t know there was water on the floor so I slipped and hit my head at the bed post”, she said.
The man who impregnated her and is the father of her other three children abandoned her when she lost her sight.
Since Joy News brought up her plight, some people have donated monies towards her upkeep.
Meanwhile, the MTN Foundation says it is ready to take up the education of the four children.
“The MTN foundation was touched by the story we heard on Joy FM,” Georgina Fiagbenu, the Senior Manager for Corporate Communications said, adding that as part of their commitment to improve education they decided to support the children.
The children would be taken care of from the basic to the tertiary level, she said.
According to Georgina Fiagbenu, they would also be looking at the rehabilitation of the woman to ensure that she is able to acquire a new skill.
