MultiChoice Nigeria has announced various initiatives to support the Federal Government’s efforts in lessening the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak across Nigeria.
The contribution includes financial support of $520 000 and $130 000 to the federal and the Lagos State governments, respectively. MultiChoice also donated 10,000 certified test kits to Nigeria’s Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
It has also aired public service announcements on Covid-19 prevention tips in Yoruba, English, Igbo, Pidgin and Hausa languages.
The company released a statement revealing that it would also pay the remuneration for engaged creative industry stakeholders whose productions have been disrupted, with a sum of over $1 million.
MultiChoice Nigeria said that its intervention is aimed at supporting the authorities in the fight against the pandemic and reducing its impact on Nigeria’s economy.
The Chairman of MultiChoice Nigeria, Adewunmi Ogunsanya, said that MultiChoice made this decision to help out because the pay-TV operator recognises the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic is having on Nigerians and the economy.
He added that MultiChoice hopes its contributions to the federal and state governments, as well as the NCDC, alongside other donations, would go a long way towards the effective management of the outbreak.
