Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) president, Mrs Diana Hopeson has advised the 16 finalists of the Hitz Discovery reality show to be disciplined and practice constantly to be able to be the best in what they have chosen to do. She was speaking during an orientation session with finalists of the Hitz FM's Discovery reality show, at the MUSIGA head office in Accra Tuesday. The event was used to formally introduce the finalists to MUSIGA and also help them familiarise players in the music industry and what it takes to be a musician. She urged them to add value to the talent they have through constant practice and also learn more since talent alone cannot get them anywhere. “New artistes, you need discipline, you need to practice what you have… talent can take you there but it can’t make you stay there if you just depend on the talent alone. You would have to add value to it; you would have to refine it. “You have the talent but you need to develop it, you need to learn, you need to read, you need to study and look for mentors and learn from them. You need to humble yourself and know that you are just at the beginning,” Mrs Diana Hopeson adviced. The MUSIGA president also used the occasion to caution them against people who will like to exploit them. She said they can only overcome this by learning and knowing the business of the music industry. Hi-Life great, Gyedu Blay-Ambolley who was also at the session advised the finalists to be inquisitive since that will give them more knowledge about their chosen field of endeavour. The orientation sessions will be handled by Willie Roy, an experienced music personality. Story by Ernest Dela Aglanu/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
