The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is asking for the immediate dismissal of the Mampong Akuapim District police commander.
ASP Agyenim Boateng is reported to have led fully armed police personnel to the Aburi Senior High School in an attempt to arrest a teacher who is said to have had hot exchanges with the head mistress of the school during a meeting.
Mr Boateng confirmed the invasion but said nothing ontoward happened.
But NAGRAT considers the action as unprofessional and unfortunate. Its president, Angel Karbonu told Joy News the Inspector General of Police must of urgency dismiss the district commander from office.
He finds it difficult to understand, why a police man will be ordered to arrest a teacher for arguing with his head mistress.
“What business does the police man have to arrest a teacher who has a heated argument with a headmistress. This police man ought to be sacked. In fact we are going to write an official letter to the IGP for the dismissal of Agyenim Boateng,” Mr Karbonu said.
He further stated that the teachers of Aburi girls must stay off the classroom until the head mistress leaves office.
Reports say one of the teachers had questioned the power of the headmistress to chair a staff meeting whilst she is on pension, culminating in a heated argument.
But the Headmistress, Mrs Sylvia Asempa has denied having any verbal confrontation with the teacher.
She also denied knowledge of the presence of the police saying she only heard the reports of the police's action.
She reiterated that school reopens on Monday despite the unfortunate incident and appealed to the students to comply.
Mrs Asempa said after nine years of dedicated service to the Aburi Girls she is ready to go but is waiting for the right thing to be done.
