The former Manhyia South MP and running mate to the New Patriotic Party's election 2024 flagbearer, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has donated 50,000 Ghana cedis and 500 bags of cement to support traders affected by the devastating fire at the Adum PZ market in Kumasi.
This comes not long after the NPP's 2024 election presidential candidate and former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia also visited the area to commiserate with the victims and offer his support.
The fire, which ravaged a significant portion of the market, caused millions of cedis in damages, with many traders losing their stalls and goods.
The blaze left traders struggling to salvage what remained of their stock.
Authorities had issued an evacuation notice, advising traders to stay away from the site until further consultations could be held with the Asantehene.
Despite the directive, many traders have returned to the market, eager to resume their livelihoods as quickly as possible.

Dr Prempeh's donation will assist the traders in rebuilding their businesses.
His support has been welcomed by the traders, providing them with much-needed assistance during this challenging time.
