A festival of Ghanaian religious choral music will be held throughout the country this Saturday, as part of the events to mark the country’s 50th independence anniversary.
Salt and Light Ministries, headed by Ms. Joyce Aryee, has been appointed by the Ghana @ 50 Secretariat as the event managers for the festival.
In Sunyani, the festival will be held at the Wesley Cathedral, in Cape Coast, it will be at the Cape Coast Castle while in Koforidua, the venue will be the Jackson Park.
The venue for the Ho festival will be the Catholic Church at Kpodzi Dela, that for Takoradi will be the SDA Church in Takoradi while in Bolgatanga, it will be at the Sacret Heart Catholic Church. In Kumasi, it will be held at the Centre for National Culture and in Tamale, the venue will be the Tamale Cathedral Social Centre.
The festival, to be held under the theme, "Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord," seeks to bring all Ghanaians together "to sing praises to glorify God for His goodness, mercy and care for the nation."
Among the groups slated to perform at the Accra festival is a mass choir of 1,000 individual choristers drawn from various choirs in the Greater Accra Region.
The Winneba Youth Choir, Tema Youth Choir, and Jesus and Mary Youth Choir are some of the identifiable groups listed to perform.
Also to feature are the Association of Anglican Church Choir, Association of Catholic Church Choir, E.P. Church Choir Union and Global Evangelistic Church Choir Union.
Others will be the Association of Methodist Church Choir, the Presby Church Choir Union and Theoharmony and Methodist Evangel Church Choir.
