The newly elected parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress in the Ningo-Prampram constituency, Sam George has been suspended from the party.
The Regional Executive of the NDC say the suspension will remain in place until hearings by the regional disciplinary committee into his conduct during the party's parliamentary primary on November 21, 2015.
The party also suspended Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopon constituency, Nii Amasah Namoale, who was also re-elected as the party's parliamentary candidate for the 2016 elections.
He is accused of conduct that brought the party into disrepute.
The suspension takes effect from December 1, 2015.
“On 21st November 2015, you contravened article 41 (3a) and 40 (8b & c) when you instigated people against the regional executive monitoring team and granted interview to the media, accusing the regional executives of perpetrating fraud to the benefit of your contender,” the letter suspending Sam George said in part.
It was signed by NDC Greater Accra Regional Secretary Victor Quarshie Adonoo December 1, 2015.
For Namoale, the party said he called some of the executives as "Fraudsters and Pickpockets".
“The Regional Party and its Executives find this act as an affront to democracy and attempt to drag the party's image into disrepute. These anti-Party conducts or activities has embarrassed the party and has brought the Party into hatred, ridicule and contempt; hence, must not go unpunished in order to protect the sanctity of Article 40 (8b) and 41 (3a) of the party's constitution.”
Greater Accra regional NDC Communications Officer Jerry Johnson who confirmed the suspension to Joy News added that Sam George “physically attacked” party executives at the regional secretariat.
A day after “lying” to cause the suspension of the primary, he said Sam George again physically attacked and threw stones at the executives. He succeeded in damaging the vehicle of the regional organizer of the party when the executives went to the constituency to supervise the primary there.
Attached are copies of the suspension letters for Sam George and Mr. Amasah Namoale.
