The Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has revealed that Kennedy Agyapong’s support among New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates declined during the final stages of the party’s internal campaign due to issues of messaging and conduct.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr Dankwah explained that Global InfoAnalytics assessed how delegates viewed all five presidential aspirants, both favourably and unfavourably, noting that positive perception does not always translate into votes.
According to him, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia recorded the highest favourable rating at 93 per cent, followed by Dr Bryan Acheampong at 86 per cent, Kennedy Agyapong and Kwabena Agyapong at 85 per cent each, and Yaw Adutwum at 83 per cent.
He revealed that while Kennedy Agyapong’s ratings fluctuated during the campaign period, they dipped significantly in the last week following the circulation of a video in which he made negative comments about Dr Bawumia.
He stressed that contrary to some perceptions, such conduct does not resonate well with NPP delegates and ultimately influenced voting patterns in the final stretch of the campaign.
“This may influence the selection of candidates, but it does not guarantee their votes. From January 2nd to the coming weeks, Bawumia’s ratings have been on the rise. Initially, Kennedy was at 85.3%, but he experienced fluctuations. Towards the last stages of the campaign, he seemed to lose focus.
“In the final week, his situation worsened due to a video that surfaced, where he made negative remarks about Bawumia, which contributed to his declining ratings. Bryan benefitted from Kennedy’s drop, and the video ultimately harmed Kennedy’s standing. Anyone who believes that video will invigorate support for Kennedy does not understand the NPP delegates,” he said.
