The Minister for Finance & Economic Planning, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has inaugurated the new Board of Directors for the National Lottery Authority (NLA) with a charge to speed up the automation processes and ensure full automation by the first quarter of 2010.
The seven-member Board, chaired by Dr. Scali Agodzo has the responsibility to supervise, control and monitor the operations of national lotto, secure the implementation of the functions of the Authority and devise methods that will help in the maximization of the revenue generated for the State by the Authority.
Other members of the Board are Hammed Rashid Tunde Ali, Penelope Mamattah,
Enoch Cobbinah, Alhaji Abdulai Mumuni Bawamia and Kojo Andah.
Dr. Duffuor urged the Board to work with management towards the introduction of dividend games in Ghana.
“I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that the dividend games are the future of lotteries in his country” he said.
The Minister lauded the NLA for introducing additional channels for dispensing lottery including automated ticket printing machines and the innovative mobile phone lottery platform.
“Ghana is the first country in Africa to introduce lottery gaming on the mobile phone platform.”
Dr. Agodzo thanked the President and the Finance Minister on behalf of his colleagues for the appointment, pledging to work as a team to make lottery very attractive in Ghana.
