Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) suffered a 12-5 defeat to Ghana Gas in a friendly football match held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Ghana Gas Astroturf, Osibisa Close in Accra.
The encounter was organised to promote wellness and foster healthy competition between the two state-owned institutions.
It was also marked by lively jamma, loud cheers, and an electric atmosphere throughout the match.
Ghana Gas netted three quick-fire goals to take early control, but a strong finish to the first half by PHDC saw the teams head into the break with the score at 8-3.
Ghana Gas, however, stepped up after the break, converting their chances and stretching the lead despite PHDC’s continued effort.

Head coach of PHDC, Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, played down the scoreline, insisting the opposition were not “extraordinary.”
"We are a very young team after only two training sessions. Given the opportunity and more training time, we can match these people, I don't think they [Ghana Gas] are extraordinary."
Earlier in the day, PHDC secured a morale-boosting win in the women’s penalty shootout, with Head of Operations and Technical, Afo Minlah, calmly slotting home the winning kick.

"We were able to beat Ghana Gas to it. Petroleum Hub won the ladies penalties which we are very excited about," Minlah said.
The match brought together staff, supporters, and executives from both sides, which reinforces the value of sport as a unifier across corporate institutions.
