A 40-year-old Nigerian who hid 31 pellets of cocaine under his genital organ and swallowed 19 was on Thursday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an Accra Fast Track High Court.

When the case was called, Uka raised his hand saying: 93I am guilty my Lord.
I am pleading for leniency".
The court presided over by Mr. Justice Charles Quist therefore convicted him on his plea, to 10-years imprisonment on each of the charges, to run concurrently.
It further ordered the destruction of the drugs in the presence of the Court's Registrar, Police and Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) Officers. Prosecuting,Ms. Marian Appiah, Principal State Attorney, told the court that, on May 26, this at about 12:30 pm, Uka arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) en-route to Sao Paolo, Brazil.
She said on arrival, NACOB operatives suspected him of carrying foreign materials in his stomach. The operatives therefore subjected him to a body scan which indicated that he had loaded 31 pellets in soaks hidden under his genital organ. The accused told the operatives that he had swallowed 19 of the pellets.
During interrogation, Uka developed stomach upset and in the process expelled 19 saying it was one Joe who gave him the substance to be sent to a Nigerian in Sao Paolo for 1,000 dollars.
