The opposition NDC in the North East Region has described the Akufo-Addo led government as a deceptive, hopeless, and untrustworthy administration, which must be voted out of power in December.
The comment follows a statement from the Mamprugu overlord, that praised President Akufo-Addo and his administration for the massive infrastructural projects currently being undertaken across the newly created Region.
President Akufo-Addo while in the regional capital during a working visit called on the Mamprugu overlord, Naa Bohagu Mahami Sheriga at his palace.
Whiles addressing the President, the overlord, through a senior elder expressed satisfaction and appreciation of the President's performance in the Region.Â
"You have done so much and in Mamprugu in particular, he (King of Mamprugu) wants you to know that these things you've done for us we are very grateful.
"This includes; the tarring of the town roads - Nalerigu, Gambaga, Walewale - and those that are ongoing in Bunkprugu and Chereponi," the Nayiri's seniormost elder, Mba Taraana, said in his speech.Â
"The Nalerigu - Gbintri road which has been awarded on contract, the Wulugu-Kpasenkpe road which is still under construction, the Nalerigu-Bunkprugu road which is [also] under construction," he added.
The Nayiri went ahead to endorse the second bid of the President.
"It is for these reasons he says that if we give Nana Akufo-Addo another term, we in Mamprugu would see more development projects", Mba Tarana declared.
In a sharp response, however, the opposition NDC in the region held a press conference to disagree with the Nayiri's statement and rather accused the NPP government of failing the people of the Mamprugu Traditional Area.
"It is very obvious that the North East Region is only a conducive place for fanciful sod cuttings of projects that won't be readily and speedily worked on", the Regional Communication Officer of the Party, Imoro Abdul Razak, said, addressing the press in Nalerigu.
"On July 21, 2018, President Akufo-Addo cut sod for the 25.7Km Nasia - Janga road in the West Mamprusi District then, the road project was expected to be completed on 14th July 2020.
"As we speak there are still unfixed culverts on the road yet to be worked on. The job isn't even 70% complete. The attempted drains [construction] at Janga township gets people's homes flooded when it rains."
"On May 16, 2019, President Akufo-Addo on a tour of the North East Region cut sod for the construction of the Bunkprugu town roads scheduled to be completed this year.
"Indeed enough evidence and grounding was given when the Finance Minister in his 2020 budget presentation to Parliament stated unequivocally that, this year 2020 is a year of roads.
"Five months to the end of the President's term do we still believe him that the Bunkprugu town roads will be completed before his exit of office? More worrying is, the MP of the area who is the Regional Minister was the one who ushered in the President into the Region to engage in this deception".
According to Mr. Imoro Abdul Razak, it is in that same vein that "in December 19, the Vice President Dr. Mahamud Bawumia cut sod for the construction of a hundred-bed hospital in Walewale amidst fanfare, pomp, and pageantry".
"In their usual grammar, empty rhetoric and dishonest character, the Vice President looked into the eyes of his own people and promised to complete the facility in 12 months, but like the biblical Judas, he betrayed the trust reposed in him by his own people".
"As we speak not a bucket of gravel is at the site".
The NDC's Communication Officer used the platform to call on the NPP government to stop using the North East Region as a receptacle of sod cuttings.
