The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned what it believes is an attempt by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to use the Chiefs in the rally support in its bid to secure victory in the December elections.
According to the North East Regional wing of the NDC, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and the Local Government Minister have become notorious for engaging the region's chiefs in a manner that mars the sanctity of the traditional outfit as far as nation-building is concerned.
In a letter signed by its North East Regional Communication Officer Imoro Abdul- Razak, the NDC called on the NPP to halt the practice.
According to the NDC, "the leadership of the NPP are orchestrating ploys to destablise and trade the long enjoyed peace for their political simplistic gains."
"Evidence abounds to show that, chiefs have been recruited and are campaigning for the NPP using the 'Name' of the Nayiri, the overlord of Mamprugu.
"We hereby remind these chiefs who have kowtowed to this mundane offers of the NPP that if they choose to run roughshod over the NDC we will treat them as mere NPP supporters in a collision course with the NDC."
The North East Region NDC believes that it will help boost the tranquil environment needed to conduct a free fair and transparent election in December 7.
