The Managing Director of Primetime Limited, Nana Akua Ankomah-Asare, has urged supporters, fans and followers of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) to expect improved performances this year.
According to her, a lot of activities have been lined up to ensure this year’s national championship gives audience nothing but thrilling and educative contents.
After an exciting edition in 2021, the competition has already commenced with the regional qualifiers, with 499 schools facing off in stiff contests to seal a spot for themselves at the national level.
Already, some schools from the Bono and Western regions have qualified for the preliminary stage.
In an interview on Prime Morning, Wednesday, Mrs Ankomah-Asare was hopeful more all-female schools would make it to the higher stages of the 2022 NSMQ.
She added that very good, and thought-provoking questions would equally be used to give compelling contest this year.
“The usual fireworks. There is going to be very good competition, very good questions, thought-provoking questions and there is going to be the usual emotional engagements, the tears and the screams.
“We always try to capture the emotions of not just the contestants but especially of the fans. You see teachers jumping at each other and carrying each other.
“We hope to bring everything to our audience and for people to follow, and as usual to learn something new about their own environments. It’s going to be a great competition,” she said.
After close to three decades since its inception, the NSMQ trophy has rotated among just 11 high schools.
But this year, there is a campaign by many schools to break into the club of winners.
Like Prempeh College did to win the 2021 edition, some schools are are featuring second-year students ahead of final-year students to boost their chances of winning the competition.
