The Head Pastor of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim is reportedly still in police custody after failing to meet his bail requirements.
This was confirmed to JoyNews by the Head of Public Affairs of the CID, DSP Juliana Obeng.
Bishop Obinim was charged with the offences of publication of false news and forgery of document contrary to sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and other offences Act, (1960) (ACT 29) respectively.
Police say the controversial pastor was arrested on Tuesday but did not give details of the news he is alleged to have published or the forged documents.
An Accra Magistrate Court subsequently granted him bail to the tune of ¢100,000 with three sureties with one person to be justified.
He is to appear in court on June 1 while investigations into other offences leveled against him continue.
His family are reportedly claiming that they are ready to pay the money but police are frustrating them.
