New artiste Offei is on cloud nine after landing a collaboration with Nigeria’s Patoranking and Ghana’s treasure Blackstone.
In an interview, Offei stated that he had not intended to remake his “all-time favourite song” until he sang a new verse to the melody during a studio session with his producer, C-tea.
Although he brought a new perspective to the song, Offei said he was not ready to release ‘Fi Ma No’ because it was a different take on Blackstone’s early 2000s song.
“Ctea being a producer started playing the melody on the keyboard, the singer part in me couldn't help but start singing a verse to it. Ctea then suggested we record it but it that will stay our little secret.”
However, Patoranking accidentally heard the song from Ctea when they got together to work in South Africa, Offei stated.
“Ctea in an attempt to play some of his new beats to Patoranking in the studio, he played the song to him. Patoranking said he loved it and gave me a free verse.”
However, because Offei did not own the rights to the song, he reached out to the original makers who also loved the remake and expressed interest in working with them on it.
The artiste was appreciative of the fact that the two artistes he admires were open to working with him.
Offei believes his unique voice and his versatility makes him different from others said looks forward to making more impact with music in society.
