The Deputy Director of Operations at the presidency and former Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has issued a stern warning that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will face justice, even in death, if he refuses to return to Ghana.
Mr Gbande emphasised that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure Ofori-Atta’s return to the country and to recover any public funds he is alleged to have embezzled.
His comments come after the official declaration of Ofori-Atta as a suspect in five high-profile corruption investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on 12th February 2025.
Although some persons have condemned the OSP's approach as high-handed with the NDC Majority Leader in Parliament calling the raid on Mr Ofori-Atta's residence regrettable, others believe the action taken against the former Finance minister is in order.
Speaking on JoyNews' AM Show on Monday, February 17, Mustapha Gbande stated, "If Ken Ofori-Atta refuses to come, every measure will be deployed to bring him back."
" If, for any reason, he passes on, his dead body will be prosecuted and jailed, and every stolen penny belonging to the people of Ghana will be retrieved."
