Scores of supporters of the detained convener of the pressure group, #FixtheCountry, Oliver Barker-Vormawor expressed disappointment when the anticipated release of their leader became doubtful.

The supporters who thought their leader would be released on Wednesday after being granted bail by the Tema High Court, massed up at the Ashiaman Police station amid dancing and singing with the hope that the man will be set free.

As at 2:00pm processes to secure his release were still ongoing. With no assurance coming from the senior members, the supporters started leaving the premises of the Police station.

On February 10, Mr. Barker-Vormawor took to social media to threaten a coup following pictures emerging from the Majority Leader’s 65th birthday bash showing an ‘E-levy’-designed cake.

He posted, “If this E-Levy passes after this cake BS, I will do the coup myself. Useless Army!”

In a subsequent post, he explained the context in which he used the word, coup.

He was arrested on February 11 at the Kotoka International Airport, upon arriving from the United Kingdom.
