The Director of Strategy, Research and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Samuel Appiah Darko, says recent criticisms and allegations by private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu are part of a deliberate effort to tarnish the image of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng and the institution.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday, following Mr Kpebu’s release from custody on December 3, Mr Darko said the lawyer’s attacks fit into a consistent pattern.
"You can see from the patterns that this is a person who is just bent on denigrating the office, bringing the reputation of the SP to disrepute and all that," he said.
Mr Darko also described the confrontation between Mr Kpebu and OSP security officers as a continuation of what he termed a “pattern of misconduct”, rather than an isolated incident.

The OSP dismissed Mr Kpebu’s claim that the office is “investigating itself”, describing it as a deliberate distortion of standard institutional procedures.
“Mr Kpebu repeatedly misleads the public by claiming that those handling the case are junior officers. In reality, their ranks are equivalent to Deputy Commissioners of Police,” Mr Darko stated.
