The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has urged government to be mindful of implementing their agreed conditions of service to avert any industrial unrest in the future.

In a communique at the end of its 63rd annual general conference in Sunyani in the Bono Region, the GMA expressed concerns over the non-implementation of aspects of its signed conditions of service document.

The six-day conference, which ended on November 7, 2021, was on the theme, 'The menace of our time: Road traffic accidents and Galamsey.'

Dr Frank Serebour, the newly elected president of the GMA, explained to Joy News that they have been negotiating with the government to thoroughly implement the signed condition of service.

"The National Labour Commission stepped in and has written to the government to resolve this matter within a month", he said.

He added, "So we expect the employer to abide by the deadlines that the Labour Commission has given".

The GMA said a quick resolution to their concerns following the engagements would "forestall any industrial unrest".

Meanwhile, the General Assembly of the GMA Annual Conference elected new members of the National Executive Committee to steer the affairs of the Association for the period 2021-2023

The Executives are Dr Frank Serebour, President; Dr Justice Duffu Yankson; Vice-president; Dr Titus Kofi Beyuo, General Secretary and Dr Richard Selormey, Assistant General Secretary.

The rest are Dr Elizabeth Esi Crentsil, Treasurer; Dr Richard Wodah-Seme, Executive Member (Male); Dr Selorm Kutsoati, Executive Member (Female); Dr Frank Ankobea, Immediate Past President.
