Government through the Ministry of Roads and Highways has pledged to fix the damaged roads in some parts of the Upper West Region caused by heavy rainfall on August 12.
Exploring the area to assess the extent of the damage, the Roads and Highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Attah stated that his outfit will start processes to resolve the enormous damages expeditiously.
“Government will support every part of this country including this great region. Yes, there has been massive destruction but the affected roads are going to be fixed in record time. The government is going to mobilise all available resources to fix what has been destroyed,” he said.

After the downpour on Thursday, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) could not reach out to victims and also tell the extent of the damages due to the magnitude of the disaster.

Director of NADMO, Mustapha Ahmed described the day as one of the region’s saddest after numerous vehicles, motorbikes, and tricycles were swept away with several passengers left stranded on the Wa-Nadowli- Babile, Nadowli- Jirapa and Sombo-Duong Highways.
