The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected cyber-enabled fraud at Mataheko-Afienya in the Greater Accra Region.
The operation also led to the rescue of nine suspected victims of human trafficking and the retrieval of electronic devices believed to have been used in fraudulent online activities.
The Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, disclosed this at a press briefing on Wednesday, July 21, 2026.
She said officers recovered 28 laptop computers and nine mobile phones during the operation. The items are expected to aid investigations into the alleged cybercrime activities.
The identities of the suspects have not yet been disclosed, and police have not indicated whether they have been formally charged.
COP Donkor said the operation forms part of the CID's efforts to tackle cybercrime, human trafficking and other forms of organised crime through intelligence-led policing and digital investigations.
"The Criminal Investigations Department remains committed to intelligence-led policing, digital forensic investigations, and collaboration with national and international partners to combat cybercrime, human trafficking, and other forms of organised crime."
She urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support the police by reporting suspicious activities.
"We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. Together, we can make Ghana a hostile environment for criminals and a safer place for everyone."
Police say investigations into the case are ongoing.
