The Assistant Director at the Agona West Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, Madam Ernestina Nkansah, has urged private schools to register with the GES to ensure a collaborative relationship. She said private schools could get some more assistance if the government knows and recognizes them, and this could be done by registering with the GES. Madam Nkansah said this at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Swedru Solid Foundation Preparatory School at Agona Swedru. She said "just as the private schools are supporting government by their immense contribution to education delivery and development, the private school operator must not lose sight of their social obligation to society, by being conscious of the parent's plight". The Director of the school, Mr J. A. Yankson, said the school started with five students in some few years ago and now has 400 students. The headmaster of the school, Mr J. K. Enyinful, said the school presented two batches of candidates to write the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 Basic Education Certification Examinations (BECE) and scored 100 percent in both examinations. According to him the school was placed second out of 125 private and public schools in the area last year BECE. Nana Kofi Paintsil, Nkosuohene of Agona Nsaba, appealed to educational authorities to put in place effective measures to improve educational standards in the area. Source: GNA
