The host of ‘Good Evening Ghana’ on Metro TV has said Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi contradicted himself with his account of working with former President Jerry John Rawlings in his latest book.
Paul Adom-Otchere said he it is difficult reconciling Prof. Ahwoi’s account of his experience working with Mr Rawlings in two different books as the accounts contradict each other.
"Prof Ahwoi presents two different views of Flt. Lt. Rawlings, 10 years apart and I'll make suggestions as to why I think he did that.
“The new book has a bibliography which excludes D.F Annan's book in the appendix as one of the books that Prof Kwamena Ahwoi relied on to write this one.
"That is curious because you have a title here 'Working with Rawlings' and this book is about the Rawlings period which you have authored in 2010 and 10 years later you come to write another book and this particular one is completely excluded from the bibliography," he told Kojo Yankson, host of Joy FM's Super Morning Show, Tuesday.
Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi chronicled his experience working with former President Jerry John Rawlings’ in his latest book.
The former Local Government Minister also spoke about the political history of Ghana between 1979 to 2010.
In the book, he outlined, in comprehensive detail, his working relationship with former President Rawlings with adjoining events.
He explained a lot of events which for a long time have been rumoured adding that somewhere along the line, his relationship with Rawlings fell through.
The motive of the book, however, has been questioned by many who believe the book is a tool to discredit former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Reacting to the book, Paul Adom-Otchere said the events recounted in the book contradicts an earlier account of the Professor in the book 'Justice D.F Annan: in the service of democracy' written by Nana Ato Dadzie and Kwamena Ahwoi
"Chapter 8 of the book [In service of democracy] has the title 'Justice Annan: the Consensus Politician and in a sub-chapter (which) has the title 'Working with Rawlings.'
"Here, how Kwamena Ahwoi describes Rawlings in terms of aptitude and disposition to politics is completely different from what he says in his book 'Working with Rawlings.'
"He pays complement to Rawlings in D.F Annans' book in very similar circumstances [where he didn't in his latest book].
He, therefore, argues that since the title is the same, the context and the thematic analysis of all the accounts must also be the same.
