The three-member committee constituted by the Interior Ministry to investigate the shooting of two persons at Ejura in the Ashanti Region follows a directive by President Akufo-Addo calling for a public inquiry to be conducted into the circumstances surrounding the Ejura killing incident on Tuesday, which also left four persons severely injured.
The committee members include George Kingsley Koomson, Justice of the Court of Appeal as Chairman, Security Expert, Dr Vladimir Antwi Danso, Juliet Amoah, Executive Director of Penplusbyte, and a civil society organisation.
Marie Louis Simmons, a principal state attorney will be the secretary of the committee.
But who are they?
Justice George Kinglsey Koomson is currently a Justice of the Court of Appeal. He was Appointed to the Court of Appeal by President Akufo-Addo in 2020.
Before this appointment he was a Justice of the High Court after he was appointed to the court by former president Kufuor.
As a High Court Judge, he presided over the case brought to the High Court by Kwabena Duffuor's UniCredit whose license had been revoked by the Bank of Ghana. He also served as a Circuit Court Judge in Akim Swedru.
Vladimir Antwi Danso is Currently the Dean at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College. He is a former Director of University of Ghana's Legon Center of International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD). In the same University, he was Senior Lecturer.
He was also a Lecturer and Security Analyst at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Center (KAIPC).
Juliet Amoah is the Executive Director, Penplusbytes. She was formerly Head of Business Development for Africa Region at Parliamentary Centre a civil society organisation. She was also a Deputy Business Director at the British Council.
In an earlier career, Juliet was a Journalist working as a local reporter for the UK based Ghana Review International Magazine and the Head of Operations at the German-owned Precious Metals Refinery, West Africa.
