Thirteen years ago lived four friends. They were so close that they told each other everything. In fact, they were described as simply the good, bad, ugly, and to some extent terrible!
But if you took off your judgmental lenses, you would see the most beautiful, intelligent, hardworking, and dedicated women living life the best way they knew.
What I learnt from these beautiful women was the fact that Love charm or whatever you want to call it doesn’t last.
Angie, apparently charmed her husband, Alvin into marriage. And guess what, it was hell for her. I don’t think she even enjoyed the marriage because it was full of disrespect, and cheating from a husband whom she housed and catered for without any form of reciprocation.
I don’t know how it ended but I think the director of the movie 4 PLAY Frank Rajah Arase can tell all of us how it ended for Roselyn Ngissahs character in the movie.
So now that we all know that love charms, love potions and the likes don’t last and to some extent don’t work, why do you worry yourselves over it?
Why try to convince the masses that there are oils that can make a man or a woman stay after intercourse?
In 2013, I traveled to the Volta Region with my senior colleague Abla De Souza for her show, My Community. After a day of filming, we made one last stop at a shrine. Abla was curious, she wanted to know all about how things worked and it sounded compelling. It was something that anyone would love to watch on Tv.
So we made our way on the footpath that led to the shrine. She had her microphone in hand, the camera was rolling, I followed up scared. We got there and were greeted by one man,
Abla told him why we were there and he was very welcoming. They had a conversation and I recall the man mentioning that people travel across the world to visit his shrine for various reasons, most of it being because of LOVE CHARMS. Abla asked how it worked and how sustainable it was.
The man was emphatic. It’s just for a period, it doesn’t last. He said he would not advice or recommend it to us. But it was a service he provided. On our way back to the car, Abla said she will title the interview LOVE POTIONS. I hope she still got that file somewhere.
Bottom line is that it doesn’t last and it will always have a negative effect on victims so why waste your time?
How do we stop the trend though? Who are we to blame for the increasing trend? Men Or Women?
Have your say in the comments, let’s learn something.
