General Overseer of Life International Church, Bishop Gordon Kisseih, has called on politicians to desist from attacking each other ahead of the December polls.
Speaking on Joy FM’s morning devotion program, “Joy Time in His Presence” Tuesday, the Bishop advised politicians to be temperate in the language they use to avoid creating confusion.
“Elections are very volatile, people are very passionate about what they believe in so yes, you are free to campaign, you are free to share your feelings, be objective, use the plural terms,” he cautioned.
There have been bad predictions about the upcoming election because of pockets of violence recorded during the voters’ registration exercise, but the general overseer believes politicians have a role in surmounting violence.
The Life International Church Bishop wants politicians to preach peace and unity during campaign trail rather than using subjective language.
“If you are on a campaign trail, you don’t use your subjective language…it will inflame passions, people will respond to you and there will be a give and take, and then, you can’t control it,” he advised.
The Bishop also noted that there are chances that things may not go as planned on the path of parliamentarians, but that should not warrant disorder.
“If you are running as a Parliamentary candidate and the chances are going against you, don’t go and create mayhem,” Bishop Kisseih advised.
