Suspected armed robbers have killed a watchman guarding the office of A2 Enterprise, an aluminium products dealership venture at Santase-Kokoben in Kumasi.
The manager of the shop, Stephen Oti told JoyNews, Bosompem Andoh, 49, was found dead, with stab wounds and his body dragged inside the shop.
He revealed the robbers made away with an amount of about ¢89,000 and a power generator.
According to Mr Okyi, the deceased who doubled as a washing bay attendant was found dead with his hand tied behind him.
“I was called this morning and informed that thieves have broken into the place. I asked my secretary to report the issue to the police immediately.
“But when the police came to the scene, they saw that my security man had been killed. They [the thieves] had also taken our safe and generator,” he narrated.
Providing more details on the incident, Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor said other shops in the area were also burgled.
He said a private vending company for the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the area was also robbed of ¢8,000.
The deceased's body has been conveyed to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy as the police begin investigations into the case.
This is the latest in a series of bizarre murders and shooting in the Ashanti Region.
Three weeks ago, a 37-year-old security guard manning the Adansi Rural Bank was gagged and killed at Atonsu.
In July, 24-year-old Angelina Jumah was shot and killed by suspected armed robbers in Kumasi.
Early this year, a financial service firm, CFSL Enterprise, was robbed of over ¢140,000 at Buokrom Estate Junction in Kumasi.
A staff of the company, Collins Dapaah, who sustained severe injuries from gunshots during the incident, later died.
Meanwhile, the police administration in September announced that some decisive security steps are being implemented to clamp down on criminal activities in the country.
The Ag. Director-General of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service disclosed that among visibility of security personnel at strategic areas, a grand strategy to curb the crime rate in the country has been rolled out.
