Some armed men believed to be members of the Western Togoland secession group have reportedly attacked the Aveyime and Mepe Police Stations in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.
The group, in the early hours of Friday forcibly took over both stations simultaneously, overpowered the police officers, broke into the armoury, and made away with all the weapons.
Amid the burning of tyres, the armed men have also blocked some major roads, claiming a part of the Oti and Volta regions fall within their territory.
Meanwhile, security personnel have been deployed to the area to ensure order.
