Four Ghanaians remain trapped aboard a tuna fishing vessel 28 days after it was taken hostage by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean. In return for the Ghanaian hostages, who are part of a 36-man crew, the pirates are asking for Spain to return two of their colleagues who were captured by its Navy. The Spanish authorities have five days to return the captured pirates. The Somali pirates have threatened to start handing over the ship’s crew to the captured pirates’ families if the Spanish government fails to honour the deadline. The two pirates were last week charged in a Madrid court with criminal association and armed robbery.
