Emanuel Navarrete beat Ruben Villa by unanimous decision to win the vacant WBO featherweight title and become a two division champion.
Navarrete, who beat Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe to win the WBO Super Bantamweight title, scored two knockdowns in the first and fourth rounds enroute to an emphatic unanimous decision victory.
Two of the judges scored it 114-112 while the third scored had it 115-111. Navarrete’s edge in strength and power was telling and while the southpaw Villa had his moments, the difference in punching ability was obvious.
Navarrete outlanded Villa 131-58 in power punches.
