Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has questioned the motive behind the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) board's decision to lift the ban placed on himself and Shatta Wale in 2019.
Taking to Twitter, the singer revealed that this decision was taken without any prior consultation with either of them, casting doubt on the true purpose of the VGMA as an award scheme.
"Dear VGMA Board & Scheme organisers, I hear the purpose of the VGMA is to celebrate and project Ghanaian musicians and music."
"If that is so, it takes nothing from you to meet with us the artistes/ our reps b4 reaching decisions that affect us and communicating them to the public," he wrote.
Stonebwoy's comment comes a week after VGMA officially announced they would lift the ban imposed on Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy after the fracas that marred the 2019 show.

A portion of their statement read: ” The Board agreed to admit them back to the scheme, hoping that such altercations that bring the scheme into disrepute, do not occur in future events. This makes them eligible to participate in this and subsequent editions of the VGMA, if they desire to do so.”
Stonebwoy in his tweet expressed his displeasure with the statement "if they desire to do so", adding that it would be better appreciated if the two artistes involved were given the chance to state their case.
