Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has alleged that the disciplinary measures taken by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, following last week's chaos are targeting the minority in Parliament.
In a memo addressed to the Speaker on Monday, he expressed disagreement with the sanctions imposed.
According to Mr Afenyo-Markin, "While the incident complained of is regrettable, there
is a growing perception that the Minority Caucus has been disproportionately targeted in disciplinary measures."
He added, "The decision to suspend three Minority Members-as against one Member of the Majority Caucus without allowing them due process casts an unfortunate political overtone on the Speaker's impartiality."
Mr Afenyo-Markin also commended Mr Bagbin for his swift response to the misunderstanding that occurred during last week's sitting of the Appointments Committee, however, he asked that the speaker should be neutral in the situation.
"This is deeply concerning, as the Speaker must remain a neutral arbiter who upholds fairness for all parties in Parliament," he said.
The Speaker of Parliament has suspended four MPs who were central to the chaos that occurred during last Thursday's sitting of the Parliament's Appointments Committee.
The suspended MPs are: Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi and Majority Chief Whip; Frank Annoh-Dompreh, MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip; Jerry Ahmed Shaib, MP for Weija and Second Deputy Minority Whip; and Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, MP for Gushegu.
